Bazzana, who knocked in the Guardians' lone run in a 7-1 loss in the afternoon, was more influential in the nightcap. Herrin, who began a rehab assignment with the Clippers, started the second game of a doubleheader and fanned all three batters faced. Relievers typically don't require a long assignment, so Herrin could be back in Cleveland at some point this week.
Martinez (foot) started in left field and went 0-for-2 for Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
Martinez, who began a rehab assignment with the Clippers, was slated to play five innings, per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, but the game was suspended due to rain. He did not participate in the game when it continued Saturday. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said the outfielder came out of the game feeling good. The Guardians plan to take it day-to-day with Martinez, evaluating him every day while ramping him up to nine innings. The club has initially mapped out a progression through July 24 and could use most of the 20 days allotted for position players on rehab.
Kwan went 5-for-6 with a walk, a double and three total runs scored across both ends of Saturday's doubleheader split with the Pirates.
The outfielder struggled to begin the season, but over the last month Kwan has begun to find his rhythm at the plate. Across his last 20 games dating back to June 23, he's batting .361 (22-for-61) with three doubles, two triples, three steals, three RBI and eight runs. He's found his comfort zone while mainly batting in the lower third of the order, but Kwan's hot streak might be good enough to jump him back into a more prominent spot.

Called up as the 27th man to get the start in the nightcap of the twin bill, Allen needed 81 pitches (51 strikes) to record just 10 outs before getting the hook in line for the loss. Cleveland's offense was able to bail him out late, however. The southpaw is likely to return to Triple-A Columbus, but through two big-league appearances (one start) this season he's posted a 2.45 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 7.1 innings.

Guardians' Gavin Williams: Fans 11 in Saturday's loss

Williams (10-5) took the loss in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates, giving up five runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- over six innings. He struck out 11 without walking a batter.
Despite the right-hander's dominance over 84 pitches (65 strikes), he served up more than two long balls in a start for the first time this season to get saddled with his first loss in over a month. The 11 strikeouts tied Williams' season high, a mark he's reached four times now, including his last outing before the All-Star break. Williams will take a 4.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 145:37 K:BB over 119.1 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home next week against the Twins.

Dion will come up from the minors to give the Guardians an additional fresh arm for their doubleheader against Pittsburgh. The 26-year-old has given up seven earned runs in just 11.1 MLB innings this season, so he'll likely be limited to low-leverage situations. Codi Heuer was sent down to Columbus in a corresponding move.
