Rave generated a run with his speed, stealing third and forcing a throwing error that bought him the time to score in the second inning. Rave has hit safely in all six of his games in September, going 6-for-20 (.300) with three extra-base hits this month. The outfielder is getting a boost in playing time while Jac Caglianone (elbow) is sidelined. Rave is hitting .233 with a .763 OPS, six steals, five home runs, 11 RBI, 20 runs scored, six doubles and one triple over 116 plate appearances this season.

Pearson wasn't all that sharp, but he was able to protect the three-run lead. Royals' Daniel Lynch: Picks up win

This was Lynch's first win since moving into the rotation after the trade deadline. He has seen mixed results as a starter, allowing 19 runs (18 earned) over 25.2 innings across his seven starts so far, though he has gone five innings in each of his last two outings. For the season, he's at a 3.52 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 49:22 K:BB across 71.2 innings. He's projected to make his next start at Houston.
Seabold (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.
Seabold is finally ready to pitch in games again after being sidelined since late June with a right lat strain. The 30-year-old is aiming to rejoin the Royals' bullpen before the conclusion of the regular season.

McArthur has not pitched anywhere since 2024, first due to surgery to repair a fractured right elbow and later because of an additional procedure on the elbow to combat recurring inflammation. Gose entered for the 11th with the game tied 3-3 and couldn't keep Arizona off the board. Lourdes Gurriel tripled home automatic runner Ildemaro Vargas to break the tie before Ketel Marte's sacrifice fly provided an insurance run. Only one of the two runs charged to Gose was earned because of the extra-inning runner, but the rally was enough to hand him his first loss of the season and raise his ERA to 1.42. This was his first run allowed in six outings.

Wacha kept Arizona off the scoreboard through six innings but received no offensive support in a game that remained scoreless until the eighth. The veteran worked around four walks while limiting the Diamondbacks to three hits, throwing 93 pitches before turning the game over to the bullpen. The quality start was Wacha's 20th of the season, and he lowered his ERA to 3.25. His next start should come against the Astros next week.

On the year, Rave is hitting .230/.306/.460 with five homers, 11 RBI, 19 runs and five stolen bases in 113 plate appearances.

Caglianone will be absent from the lineup for the third straight contest as he recovers from a left flexor strain. Kimbrel entered a scoreless game in the 10th and couldn't contain Arizona after beginning the inning with the automatic runner at second. Lars Nootbaar's sacrifice fly broke the tie, and the Diamondbacks eventually pushed across five runs in the frame. Kimbrel finished the inning, but the Royals couldn't respond in the bottom of the frame, so the veteran reliever was tagged with his fourth loss of the season while seeing his ERA climb to 4.53. Despite the subpar outing, it wouldn't be surprising if Kimbrel gets more ninth-inning opportunities -- the Royals are employing a committee-based approach in the absence of Carlos Estevez (shoulder), and Kimbrel is one of the options to close out games alongside Steven Cruz and Nate Pearson.

Cameron dominated Arizona and didn't allow a runner to advance beyond first base during his six innings. He lowered his ERA to 3.93 with this strong showing, and he now owns a 1.66 ERA across 59.2 innings over his last nine starts dating back to July 24. Cameron is scheduled to make his next start Sunday on the road against the Red Sox.
