Top Bruins News

  • Bruins' Andrew Peeke: Fills empty cage

Peeke scored an empty-net goal and blocked four shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Peeke went a month between points, posting a minus-4 rating with 20 hits and 24 blocked shots over his previous 13 games. The 27-year-old has never put up big scoring numbers, but he plays with enough grit to hold onto a top-four role while the Bruins are without Charlie McAvoy (face) and Henri Jokiharju (undisclosed). For the season, Peeke has five points, 33 shots on net, 42 hits, 67 blocks and a minus-6 rating through 30 appearances.

  • Bruins' Fraser Minten: Pots opening goal

Minten scored a goal and added two hits in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Minten gave the Bruins a brief initial lead at 17:42 of the first period, though Timo Meier answered less than a minute later. The goal snapped Minten's stretch of 12 contests without one, during which he had just a two-assist performance. The 21-year-old has done enough to hold onto the third-line center job, and he's got room to grow despite the limits of his role. He's at four goals, nine points, 38 shots on net, 64 hits, 22 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in 30 appearances.

  • Bruins' Casey Mittelstadt: Adds insurance tally

Mittelstadt scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Mittelstadt has two goals and an assist over five games since he returned from a lower-body injury. He's seen top-six usage in that span and led Boston forwards with 16:36 of ice time in Saturday's game. For the year, the 27-year-old has six goals, 12 points, 23 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 20 appearances. He could exceed the 40-point mark if he stays healthy the rest of the way, but he's unlikely to get enough of an opportunity to match his 59-point campaign from 2022-23.

  • Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Scores vs. New Jersey

Geekie scored a goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Geekie has been on a tear of late and has found the back of the net in four of his last five outings. Over that five-game stretch, the 27-year-old center has tallied nine points (five goals, four assists), 14 shots on goal and eight hits while sporting an impressive but unsustainable 35.7 shooting percentage.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Cruises to win Saturday

Swayman stopped 29 of 30 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Swayman bounced back from an ugly showing in the 5-4 loss to the Red Wings on Dec. 2 and notched another impressive outing to get back to winning ways. Over his last 10 appearances, Swayman has gone 7-3-0 with a 2.34 GAA and an impressive .926 save percentage.

  • Bruins' David Pastrnak: Remains unavailable

Pastrnak (undisclosed) won't be in the lineup against New Jersey on Saturday, according to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic.

Pastrnak will miss his fifth straight game, but he appears to be progressing after skating before Friday's practice. He has generated 11 goals, 29 points, 86 shots on net and 37 hits through 25 appearances this season. Alex Steeves has been filling in on the top line during Pastrnak's absence.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Defending crease Saturday

Swayman will protect the home net against New Jersey on Saturday, according to Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site.

Swayman surrendered five goals on 23 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Detroit. He has posted a record of 11-7-0 with a 2.80 GAA and a .910 save percentage through 18 appearances this season. New Jersey sits 22nd in the league with 2.89 goals per game this year.

  • Bruins' Dean Letourneau: Continues strong run

Letourneau scored twice in Boston College's 3-1 win over UMass-Lowell on Friday.

Letournaeau has been rolling lately for the Eagles. He's up to eight goals and 16 points through 15 appearances in his sophomore season. The Bruins prospect is showing the type of offense that largely evaded him as a freshman, which should help lessen any concerns about his development that might have surfaced last season.

  • Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Dishes two assists in win

Lohrei notched two assists and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

Lohrei helped out on goals by Viktor Arvidsson and Pavel Zacha during the second period. The 24-year-old Lohrei had gone eight games without a point. He's seen his ice time fluctuate lately, as he plays on the third pairing at even strength and also on the second power-play unit. Lohrei has 12 points, 16 shots on net, 25 blocked shots, 11 hits and a plus-3 rating through 24 appearances this season, putting him on track for a similar scoring output to his 33 points in 77 outings from 2024-25.

  • Bruins' Viktor Arvidsson: Earns pair of points

Arvidsson scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

This was Arvidsson's second game back from missing seven contests due to a lower-body injury. He's returned to a second-line role and a spot on the second power-play unit. Arvidsson is up to seven goals, 12 points, 58 shots on net and a plus-1 rating over 22 appearances. The winger carries a significant amount of injury risk based on his career, but he should be able to surpass the 27-point output he had in 2024-25 with the Oilers as long as he stays relatively healthy.

  • Bruins' Alex Steeves: Another two-point effort

Steeves recorded a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues. He also added two shots on goal, six hits and a plus-2 rating.

Steeves was coming off a two-goal performance in the 5-4 loss to the Red Wings on Tuesday, and he continues a hot streak that has seen him deliver multiple points in three of his last five games. Over that stretch, the 25-year-old winger has five markers, an assist, 10 shots on goal, 23 hits and a plus-3 rating.

  • Bruins' Pavel Zacha: Nets two goals Thursday

Zacha scored two goals, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

Zacha found the back of the net twice in the second period, tallying at the 12:26 and 19:59 mark of the frame. Zacha is up to seven goals this season. This was the first time he's found the back of the net since doing so in a Nov. 11 win over the Maple Leafs. Zacha has scored three of his last five goals during power-play situations.

  • Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Keeps streak alive

Geekie had a goal and two assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

Geekie has been on a tear lately, as this was his third straight game with multiple points, and he's cracked the scoresheet in all but one of his last eight appearances. Over that stretch, the 27-year-old winger has tallied 13 points (nine goals, four assists), 25 shots, 21 hits and a plus-4 rating.

  • Bruins' Elias Lindholm: Excels as playmaker

Lindholm recorded three assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

Lindholm hasn't scored a goal since returning from a 10-game absence due to a lower-body injury, but he's been outstanding as a playmaker on the first line. He has seven assists over his last four games, a span in which he's also racked up six shots on goal, three blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-3 rating.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Outstanding against St. Louis

Korpisalo stopped 37 of 39 shots in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

The 39 shots Korpisalo faced in this game were the second-most in a single game this season, but he was excellent in limiting the damage to just two goals allowed. This was his first win in almost a month, as his previous win came Nov. 6 against the Senators. In between wins, Korpisalo went 0-3-0 with a 4.13 GAA and an .869 save percentage across four appearances.

  • Bruins' David Pastrnak: Won't play Thursday

Pastrnak (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Blues, Scott McLaughlin of WEEI reports.

Pastrnak continues to deal with an undisclosed injury, and he'll be unavailable for a fourth consecutive matchup. However, head coach Marco Sturm said during Thursday's pregame press conference that the team hopes that Pastrnak will be able to resume skating soon. Alex Steeves should maintain a first-line role against the Blues.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Starting Thursday

Korpisalo will be between the home pipes versus St. Louis on Thursday, according to Scott McLaughlin of WEEI.

Korpisalo enters action Thursday with a 4-6-0 record. His peripherals have been weak this season, with a 3.52 GAA and an .880 save percentage. The Blues are scoring 2.56 goals per game, which ranks 30th in the NHL.
