Blue Jackets' Kent Johnson: Back in action Thursday
Johnson will return to the lineup Thursday after being a healthy scratch Tuesday in Seattle, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
It was thought that Johnson missed Tuesday's game with an illness, but head coach Dean Evason said that was not the case. Johnson will replace Boone Jenner (upper body) in the lineup. Johnson is off to a mediocre start with two goals, three assists and a minus-eight rating in 15 appearances.

Jenner (upper body) is set for a stint on the sidelines after head coach Dean Evason told reporters Thursday, "It's not short term," Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.
Jenner has been off to a decent start to the 2025-26 campaign, registering three goals and seven helpers in 16 outings, including a pair of power-play points. With the 32-year-old forward on the shelf, Luca Del Bel Belluz will get a shot at a first-line role versus Edmonton on Thursday, but he will have his work cut out for him to maintain that spot in the lineup.

Greaves will be between the home pipes versus Edmonton on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.
Greaves will make his third consecutive start as he looks to take over the No. 1 role with the Blue Jackets. He is 4-4-1 with a 2.89 GAA and a .901 save percentage across nine starts this season. The Oilers are averaging 3.00 goals, tied for 17th in the NHL.

Fantilli scored a power-play goal on five shots in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Kraken.
Fantilli has two goals and five points over his last three games. The 21-year-old has been on the top line during that stretch, and he shattered his previous high for ice time with 22:54 in this contest. Fantilli also won just one of eight faceoffs, so he still has some improving to do in that area if he's going to be a top-line center. For the year, he's at four goals, 11 points, 40 shots on net, 18 hits, 10 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating across 16 appearances.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Sharp in shootout win
Greaves stopped 22 of 23 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Kraken.
Greaves played both halves of the Blue Jackets' back-to-back. He was torched for five goals on 24 shots Monday in Edmonton, but he fared much better against the Kraken's pedestrian offense, earning his first win in his last three starts. This was also his first instance of starting consecutive games this season. Greaves is up to 4-4-1 with a 2.89 GAA and a .901 save percentage over nine starts. The 24-year-old has been fine for a middling team, but it's unlikely he'll fully pull ahead of Elvis Merzlikins in the competition for time in the crease. The Blue Jackets' next game is at home against the Oilers on Thursday.

Provorov scored a goal in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Oilers.
Provorov opened the scoring at 11:42 of the first period. The defenseman has three points over his last six contests. For the season, he's at three goals, three helpers, 33 shots on net, 19 blocked shots, eight hits and a plus-3 rating over 15 appearances. Provorov hasn't topped the 10-goal mark since 2019-20, so it's safe to assume his scoring touch won't last throughout the year, but he will be a defensive stalwart in the Blue Jackets' top four.

Blue Jackets' Boone Jenner: Two-point performance Monday
Jenner recorded a goal, an assist and four shots in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Oilers.
Jenner recorded both of his points during the second period, setting up Sean Monahan's goal at the 1:39 mark and later scoring with 1:58 left in the frame with a tip-in. Jenner has been far from a consistent offensive weapon for the Blue Jackets this season, but he seems to be turning things around with four points over his last four games (one goal, three helpers). Jenner has 10 points in 15 games this season and looks on pace to hover around the 40-50 point mark. His previous career-high mark was 49 points in the 2015-16 regular season.

Monahan found the back of the net at the 1:39 mark of the second period to give the Blue Jackets a transitory 2-1 lead. Fantilli has posted back-to-back multi-point performances for the first time this season, and the 21-year-old center seems to be trending in the right direction with five points over his last four appearances. Fantilli had a breakout season with 54 points in 2024-25 and is looking poised to hover around that mark again in 2025-26 with 10 points (three goals, seven helpers) in his first 15 contests. Fantasy managers should continue to trust Fantilli, especially given his first-line role in the lineup.

The Oilers have some elite offensive weapons, but still, fantasy managers can't be pleased with Greaves' performance in this game. The 24-year-old enjoyed a strong start to the season but has been faltering of late, with nine goals allowed on 49 shots faced over his previous two starts. The Blue Jackets have been alternating goalies all season long, and if that trend continues, Greaves could potentially make his next start in a rematch against the Oilers on Thursday.
