Avalanche's Taylor Makar: Promoted Wednesday
Makar was recalled from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Makar figures to slot into the lineup against the Ducks on Wednesday, filling a bottom-six role for the club that is plagued by injuries. In his previous five NHL appearances this year, the 24-year-old winger failed to register a point while generating seven hits, four shots and one block while averaging a mere 5:29 of ice time.

Avalanche's Jack Ahcan: Called up Wednesday
Ahcan was recalled from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Ahcan has been in the minors since mid-November, but he'll rejoin the NHL club with two weeks remaining before the Olympic break. The 28-year-old blueliner will likely have an opportunity to see some playing time with the NHL club since Devon Toews (upper body) is slated to miss the Avalanche's next two games.

Avalanche's Devon Toews: Set to miss homestand
Toews (upper body) will not be available for the Avalanche's next two games, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports Wednesday.
Toews is reportedly getting close to making his return, but it is not expected to happen during his next two contests. The blueliner has already missed seven games due to his upper-body injury. Prior to his absence, Toews was stuck in a 15-game goal drought during which he generated five assists, 33 shots and 25 blocks.

Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Targeting Friday return
Head coach Jared Bednar said Wednesday that he hopes Kiviranta (lower body) will be able to return for Friday's game against the Flyers, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Kiviranta has been sidelined since late December, and he was officially placed on injured reserve Monday. However, it appears as though he's closing in on a return to game action. If he's able to suit up for Friday's matchup, that would allow him to appear in NHL games for nearly two weeks leading up to the Olympic break. Kiviranta has made 21 appearances for the Avalanche this year, recording a goal, three assists, 30 hits and six PIM while averaging 9:29 of ice time.

Avalanche's Valtteri Puustinen: Headed to Colorado
Puustinen, alongside a 2026 seventh-round pick, were traded to the Avalanche from Pittsburgh on Tuesday in exchange for Ilya Solovyov.
In the midst of his seventh season in the Penguins' organization, Puustinen will move to Colorado following Tuesday's trade. While he didn't crack Pittsburgh's lineup this season, he has been productive with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 26 points across 35 games. It'll be tough for him to find a full-time role with the Avalanche, but he might be able to join the NHL squad at some point this season due to the team's plethora of current injuries on the wing.

Avalanche's Valeri Nichushkin: Should be available Wednesday
Nichushkin (upper body) is expected to suit up at home versus the Ducks on Wednesday, Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Nichushkin sustained minor injuries in a car accident on the way to Monday's game versus the Capitals, per Corey Masisak of The Denver Post. However, the 30-year-old winger participated in Tuesday's optional skate and isn't expected to miss any additional time. As long as he doesn't have any setbacks prior to puck drop Wednesday, Nichushkin should reclaim his spot on the second line next to Ross Colton and Brock Nelson.

Avalanche's Parker Kelly: Opens scoring Monday
Kelly scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Monday's 5-2 win over the Capitals.
Kelly has two goals and two assists over his last six games. Injuries have started to pile up among the Avalanche's forwards, affording Kelly a chance to see more ice time. He's averaging 14:15 per game in January, two minutes higher than his season average. Overall, the 26-year-old has a career-high nine goals with eight assists, 62 shots on net, 98 hits, 32 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a plus-11 rating over 47 appearances.

Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Adds insurance tally
Lehkonen scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-2 win over the Capitals.
Lehkonen had been limited to one helper over his previous five games. The 30-year-old winger remains in a top-six role, so his recent slump on offense is likely to be just a blip on the radar. He's at 16 goals, 36 points, 117 shots on net, 34 hits, 26 blocked shots and a plus-32 rating over 47 appearances, giving him a chance to challenge for a 60-point campaign if he can turn up the scoring again.

Avalanche's Martin Necas: Two helpers in win
Necas pocketed two assists, one on the power play, in Monday's 5-2 win over the Capitals.

Avalanche's Victor Olofsson: Two points including winner Monday
Olofsson scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 5-2 win over the Capitals.
Both points came in the second period as the Avs took the lead for good. Olofsson has two multi-point performances in the last four games, but those are the only times he's gotten onto the scoresheet since Dec. 13, and Monday's helper was his first power-play point since Nov. 9. On the season, the veteran winger has nine goals and 23 points in 47 contests.

Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Hits big career milestone
MacKinnon scored two goals, one on the power play, and added an even-strength assist in Monday's 5-2 win over the Capitals.
With his goal late in the second period that wrapped up the scoring on the afternoon, MacKinnon reached 1,100 career regular-season points, becoming just the second player in franchise history to reach that plateau after Hall of Famer Joe Sakic. MacKinnon's tied with Connor McDavid atop the NHL leaderboard with 85 points, and his 38 goals put him well in front in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy.

Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Picks up win over Caps
Wedgewood stopped 22 shots in Monday's 5-2 win over Washington.
The Avs never trailed in the game as they outshot the visitors 44-24, making life relatively easy for Wedgewood. It was his first start since Jan. 8, as he may be ceding the top spot in the crease back to Mackenzie Blackwood, but through five outings this month, Wedgewood's delivered a 3-2-0 record with a stout 2.44 GAA and .911 save percentage.

Avalanche's Alex Barre-Boulet: Returns to minors
Barre-Boulet was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Monday.
Barre-Boulet recorded an assist and two hits during Monday's 5-2 win over the Capitals, but he had a team-low 3:46 of ice time. It was his first appearance in the NHL in 2025-26, but he'll link back up with the Eagles in short order.

Avalanche's Ivan Ivan: Sent down after Monday's game
Ivan was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Monday.
Ivan received just 4:57 of ice time in Monday's 5-2 win over Washington. The 23-year-old has bounced between the NHL and AHL several times in January, and considering the Avalanche are dealing with a few injuries up front, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Ivan back up with the big club at some point in the near future.

Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Placed on injured reserve
Kiviranta (lower body) was put on injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.
Kiviranta hasn't played since Dec. 29, so he can be activated whenever he's healthy. His move to IR was likely to accommodate the Avalanche's recall of Alex Barre-Boulet from the minors Monday. Kiviranta has a goal and four points in 21 appearances in 2025-26.

Avalanche's Alex Barre-Boulet: Up from minors

Barre-Boulet has 12 goals and 37 points in 36 outings with AHL Colorado in 2025-26. The Avalanche announced Valeri Nichushkin (upper body) would be a late scratch Monday versus Washington, so Barre-Boulet will likely draw into the lineup for his NHL season debut.
