Mayfield (personal) has been moved to non-roster Thursday, per Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.

Mitchell was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Thursday.

Mitchell will serve as the seventh defenseman for the Isles while Scott Mayfield (personal) is away from the club. Mayfield is doubtful for Thursday game in Vegas, due to the birth of his child, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Mayfield could return as early as Friday in Utah. The blueliner has three assists in 16 games this season. The Islanders could recall a blueliner from AHL Bridgeport ahead of Thursday's tilt, as they are down to six healthy defensemen.

McWard scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Bridgeport's 5-4 shootout loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday.

McWard has three multi-point efforts over his last six games. The defenseman is up to three goals, seven helpers, 19 shots on net and a plus-10 rating over 13 appearances this season, his first with Bridgeport. He was limited to 26 points in 67 regular-season outings for AHL Abbotsford last year, but it appears he's taken a step forward offensively in his third professional campaign.

Rittich is expected to defend the cage on the road versus Utah on Friday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Rittich will take the second game of the Islanders' back-to-back, while Ilya Sorokin gets the nod on the road versus Vegas on Thursday. In his five outings this year, the 33-year-old Rittich has logged a 3-2-0 record to go with a 3.41 GAA and zero shutouts.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Expected to start Thursday in Vegas

Sorokin is scheduled to tend the road twine Thursday against the Golden Knights, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports Tuesday.

Sorokin has won back-to-back games and three of his last four while allowing two goals or less in three of those contests. The Russian netminder had to be sharp in New Jersey on Monday -- the Devils generated 25 high-danger chances, per Andrew Gross of Newsday. Sorokin appears to be rounding into form after a slow start to the season, and he'll head to Vegas with a 5-4-2 record, 2.90 GAA and .898 save percentage over 11 starts.

  • Islanders' Kyle Palmieri: Two points in Jersey

Palmieri produced a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Devils.

After setting up Bo Horvat for the Islanders' opening goal in the second period, Palmieri potted his own late in the third by banging home the rebound on a shot from the blue line by Matthew Schaefer. The multi-point performance was Palmieri's first since Oct. 11, but the veteran winger has gotten onto the scoresheet in nine of the last 12 games, racking up four goals and 10 points during that stretch.

  • Islanders' Bo Horvat: Two-point effort Monday

Horvat scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Devils.

The veteran center got the Islanders on the board early in the second period by snapping a shot past Jacob Markstrom to finish off an odd-man rush. Horvat is up to 12 goals on the season, two back of Nathan MacKinnon for the NHL lead, and his 20 points in 16 games paces the Isles by a healthy margin -- linemate Kyle Palmieri is tied with Mathew Barzal in second place with 13 points.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Keeps rolling in OT win

Sorokin made 33 saves in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Devils.

Sorokin nearly picked up the win in regulation, but Simon Nemec blasted a shot through heavy traffic with five seconds left in the third period to tie it up. The Islanders made it up to their netminder, not allowing a shot in OT before Mathew Barzal potted the winner. Sorokin has just one loss in his last eight starts, going 5-1-2 with a 2.45 GAA and a .914 save percentage during that span, and over his last four outings, he's given up just six goals on 118 shots (.949 save percentage).

  • Islanders' Max Shabanov: Joining trip out west

Shabanov (upper body) is not with the Islanders for Monday's road game versus the Devils but will join the team ahead of a trip to Vegas on Thursday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Shabanov is far from a lock to play Thursday and could just be traveling with the team in order to start practicing. Prior to his nine-game absence, the 25-year-old winger was starting to find his groove with assists in back-to-back contests.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: First goalie off Monday

Sorokin was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports, signaling that he'll draw the road start against New Jersey.

Sorokin is coming off his first shutout win of the season, as he turned aside all 33 shots he faced against the Rangers on Saturday. He'll attempt to remain effective against a more formidable opponent in the Devils, who have scored 3.40 goals per game this year, which ranks seventh in the NHL.

  • Islanders' Anthony Duclair: Chips in twice

Duclair had two assists and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-0 win against the Rangers.

Duclair had a hand in the goals scored by Jonathan Drouin and Anders Lee. The 30-year-old Duclair is up to three assists and six points across 15 games this season. His second season with the Islanders is off to a better start than last year, when he posted 11 points across 44 games. Duclair likely won't have value outside of deeper leagues that put a premium on points, and there are likely better options on the waiver wire unless he can recapture the form he had two seasons ago between San Jose and Tampa Bay.

Lee netted a goal in Saturday's 5-0 victory over the Rangers.

Lee slammed the door shut by tallying a goal with 30 seconds remaining in regulation. The 35-year-old winger is up to three goals, 11 points and 43 shots on net in 15 games this season. He has three points in his last four games and is on pace early on to reach 50 points for the sixth time in 14 seasons with the Islanders.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Three points in win

Pageau tallied an empty-net goal, dished out two assists and had three hits in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Rangers.

Pageau helped out on Jonathan Drouin's goal before scoring one of his own on the Rangers' empty net. Pageau then picked up his second assist a minute later when Anders Lee scored the final goal for the Islanders. Overall, the 32-year-old Pageau has five goals, six assists, 18 shots on net and 26 hits in 15 games this season. The third-line center has at least one point in four of his last five games. With solid outputs in both points and hits so far this season, Pageau has good fantasy value in banger leagues.

  • Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Tallies trio of points

Drouin scored a goal, registered two assists and recorded a block in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Rangers.

Drouin found twine with less than a minute to play in the first period before picking up two assists, with his first being on a power play. It was a much-needed performance for him, as he was on a four-game scoreless streak. Overall, the 30-year-old forward has two goals, 10 points and 17 shots on net in 14 appearances this season. While Drouin's numbers don't immediately jump off the page, he is averaging a career-high 4:08 of power-play time this season. His extra time with the man advantage could continue to pay dividends as he chases the fourth 50-point season of his 12-year career. With his current opportunities in the Islanders' top six and solid output offensively, Drouin has good value in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Islanders' Bo Horvat: Finds twine twice

Horvat scored two goals, including one on the power play, and put five shots on net in Saturday's 5-0 shutout win over the Rangers.

Horvat tallied the opening goal midway through the first period before finding the back of the net on a power play late in the second. With Saturday's performance, Horvat extended his point streak to five games, and he has 18 points through 15 outings this year. The top-line center has 11 goals to start the year, which is tied for third in the league, behind only Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon and Montreal's Cole Caufield. It's early, but Horvat is on pace to easily surpass his career high of 70 points.
