Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Tending twine Thursday
Askarov will patrol the crease on the road against the Flames on Thursday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Askarov is riding a four-game winning streak during which he posted a 1.23 GAA and a .963 save percentage. After an underwhelming start to the year, in which the 23-year-old netminder recorded a disastrous 4.69 GAA, it seems Askarov has rediscovered his form.

Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Placed on injured reserve
The Sharks placed Nedeljkovic (personal) on non-roster injured reserve Thursday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.
Nedeljkovic was slated to start Tuesday, but was replaced by Yaroslav Askarov when a personal problem came up. Nedeljkovic is 3-2-2 with a 2,96 GAA and a ,906 save percentage over seven appearances this season. The Sharks recalled Jakub Skarek from AHL San Jose in a corresponding move.

Sharks' Jakub Skarek: Recalled by Sharks
Skarek was called up from AHL San Jose on Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Skarek will back up Yaroslav Askarov, as Alex Nedeljkovic was placed on non-roster injured reserve due to a personal matter. Skarek was 4-2-0 with a 3.63 GAA and an .875 save percentage across six AHL appearances before his recall.

Sharks' Quentin Musty: Collects three helpers
Musty logged three assists in AHL San Jose's 7-0 win over Abbotsford on Tuesday.
Musty is off to a positive start this season with two goals and seven assists across 12 games for the Barracuda. The 20-year-old winger has earned five of his helpers over the last three contests. Musty has added 21 shots on net so far this season, but he can tap into both higher volume and better efficiency as he continues to learn the ropes in the AHL. He likely projects as a middle-six winger in the NHL, especially with all of the talented prospects the Sharks have put together during their rebuild.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Scores twice in Barracuda win
Giles scored two goals in AHL San Jose's 7-0 win over Abbotsford on Tuesday.
Giles received a three-game stint in the NHL just over a week ago and put up one helper. At the AHL level, he's earned four points and 12 shots on net through eight contests. The 25-year-old isn't really a prospect, but he seems to have a certain something that could help him carve out a role as a bottom-six option in the NHL. He'll likely need to show a little more with the Barracuda to get another look with the big club.

Sharks' Igor Chernyshov: Stays hot with hat trick
Chernyshov scored three goals on seven shots in AHL San Jose's 7-0 win over Abbotsford on Tuesday.
All six of Chernyshov's goals this season have come over the last four games. The 19-year-old winger has added three assists, 25 shots on net and a plus-1 rating over 12 appearances. Chernyshov just needed a little time to adjust to North American professional ranks, but he's looked like a promising part of the Sharks' future with these early positive returns.

Sharks' Jakub Skarek: Shuts out Abbotsford
Skarek posted a 27-save shutout in AHL San Jose's 7-0 win over Abbotsford on Tuesday.
Skarek took advantage of a reeling opponent, and he received plenty of support to earn his first shutout of the season. Through six outings, Skarek has a 3.63 GAA and an .875 save percentage despite posting a 4-2-0 record. It may have been a good time to make an impression -- Alex Nedeljkovic (personal) is away from the Sharks during their road trip, which likely means the big club will need to call up either Skarek or Gabriel Carriere. The latter has posted better numbers this season, but Skarek is more experienced.

Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Tending to personal matter
Nedeljkovic (personal) will be away from the team after Tuesday's game in Minnesota, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Nedeljkovic was originally penciled in for the start Tuesday, but the personal matter likely played a part in him instead serving as Yaroslav Askarov's backup. At this time, assume Nedeljkovic will miss at least Thursday's game versus the Flames. It's not clear if he'll be back in time to join the Sharks for Saturday's game in Seattle. With Nedeljkovic away, Gabriel Carriere or Jakub Skarek are the top candidates for a call-up, though it's safe to assume the bulk of the playing time will go to Askarov.

Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Sets up both goals in win
Celebrini registered two assists, including one on the power play, in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.
Celebrini's point streak is up to four games (three goals, five assists) with this effort, which saw him set up tallies by Will Smith and Collin Graf. The 19-year-old Celebrini continues to rank among the top point producers in the league so far -- his hot stretch has him up to 10 goals, 16 helpers, 49 shots on net and a plus-8 rating through 17 outings this season.

Sharks' Collin Graf: Nets game-winner in overtime
Graf scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.
Graf went hard to the net and corralled a Macklin Celebrini pass, deking around Filip Gustavsson before potting the game-winner on a backhand shot. With a goal and two helpers over his last four games, Graf is showing a little more potential on offense. The 23-year-old's defensive skills and versatility have been his hallmarks this year, allowing him to maintain a fairly steady third-line role. He's at two goals, six points (two shorthanded), 11 shots on net, 17 hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 16 appearances. He may be worth a look for fantasy managers in deeper formats.

Sharks' Will Smith: Ties game on power play
Smith scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.
Smith is up to three goals and seven points during his five-game point streak. His tally Tuesday was his first on the power play this season, though he's been just fine at filling the net at even strength in what's shaping up to be a breakout year. Overall, Smith is up to seven goals, 17 points (four on the power play), 35 shots on net and a plus-10 rating through 17 appearances.

Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Winning streak at four games
Askarov stopped 28 of 29 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.
Askarov was a late choice to start the game -- earlier in the day, Alex Nedeljkovic was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate. Despite the short notice, Askarov delivered an excellent performance in his fourth straight win. During the streak, he's allowed a total of five goals on 136 shots, with two of the wins coming in overtime. Overall, the 23-year-old is really starting to find a groove at the NHL level. He's up to 5-4-1 with a 3.29 GAA and an .896 save percentage over 10 outings, but he's trending straight up during the Sharks' hot stretch. They've got a couple of favorable road matchups on deck, as they visit the Flames on Thursday and the Kraken on Saturday.

Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Not starting after all
Nedeljkovic won't start Tuesday on the road versus the Wild as previously expected, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Nedeljkovic was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, but Yaroslav Askarov led the Sharks onto the ice in warmups. The Sharks have been alternating goalies, and this would be Nedeljkovic's usual turn for a start. The 29-year-old netminder was on the ice for warmups as well, so it's not immediately clear why the Sharks changed plans.

Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Tending twine Tuesday
Askarov will defend the road net against Minnesota on Tuesday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Askarov is coming off a 38-save performance in Saturday's 3-1 win over Florida. He has won three straight outings to improve to 4-4-1 this season while surrendering 32 goals on 287 shots. Minnesota ranks 20th in the league with 2.88 goals per game this campaign.

Sharks' Ethan Cardwell: Sent down to minors
Cardwell was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Tuesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Cardwell's demotion comes as a slight surprise, as it leaves the team with no extra forwards on the 23-man roster but nine defensemen. A roster spot was needed to activate William Eklund (lower body) off injured reserve, and it seems the team didn't want to send any of its three space blueliners to the minors. For his part, Cardwell has notched one goal, three shots and four hits in four outings while averaging 12:21 of ice time.

Sharks' William Eklund: Suiting up in State of Hockey
Eklund (lower body) will return to the lineup in Minnesota on Tuesday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Prior to missing four straight contests, Eklund was in a groove offensively, earning four goals and nine points over a six-game stretch. The 23-year-old winger might replace Collin Graf on the second line Tuesday, and Eklund will likely receive time with the man advantage as well.

Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Draws start Tuesday
Nedeljkovic will start on the road Tuesday against the Wild, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.
Nedeljkovic has played well lately, going 2-0-1 with a 1.62 GAA and a stellar .948 save percentage across his last three starts. The Ohio native had allowed at least four goals in three of his first four appearances this year, so it's been an excellent turnaround for Nedeljkovic and the Sharks alike. The Wild sit 20th in the league with 2.88 goals per game and are 4-1-0 in their last five games.
